How to choose a rubric template
There are three ways to use this page. If you know the assignment, pick the template that matches it: every template is a complete, editable rubric with criteria and performance levels already filled in. If you're grading something unusual, start from the blank rubric template and build it yourself. If you need a file you can keep editing in Word, use the Word version.
Not sure how many criteria to include? Most teachers use 4–6 criteria and 4 performance levels. Fewer than 3 criteria makes the rubric hard to score consistently; more than 8 and it becomes hard to finish grading a class in one sitting.
Every template on this page is free, needs no login, and saves nothing to a server.
